Fall River, MA (February 1, 2008) Duro Textiles, a leader in textile innovation, is pleased to announce its newest technology – Eco-Layer™.

Eco-Layer™ is a unique fabric technology that utilizes green materials throughout its construction. The result is a high performance composite material that is manufactured with low environmental impact and is completely recyclable.

Designed with the Earth in mind, Eco-Layer™ fabric consists of three layers:

Outer layer – Providing superior stain and water repellency, the outer layer consists of a nano-based finish that uses up to 10 times less fluorocarbons than standard DWR finishes. The result is a highly durable, environmentally-friendly protective surface.
Middle layer – Post consumer recycled material makes up the middle layer. This high strength polyester is available in a wide variety of deniers. With the United States disposing 2.5 million plastic bottles every hour, the middle layer gives trash a second chance.
Inner layer – The inner layer is a water-based, polyester coating, which is more environmentally friendly than solvent-based acrylic or urethane coatings. This low VOC coating system allows Eco-Layer™ to consist of only one material – polyester – thereby achieving 100% recyclability.

Recycled and recyclable, Eco-Layer™ can be used in a wide-variety of applications including outwear, packs, and tents allowing users to truly have the greenest gear on the mountain.
